Virginia Graeme Baker Drain Cover Updates

11:45 am Hot Tubs/Spas, Pool Equipment, Pool Safety, Pool Tips, Swimming Pools, VGB Compliance

Many updates have been made recently in regards to the Virginia Greame Baker Pool & Spa Safety Act. We are finding out that there is not one specific drain cover that will work on every pool, so a personal consultation in our store is almost necessary to find the correct drain cover & safety release system that is needed to keep your pool compliant. Please schedule a time soon to speak with us about what will be needed for your specific pool!

Here is the updated news and compliant drain covers to date.

(NOTE: Although we try our hardest to keep you up to date on the latest information, rules & regulations, we can not promise that they will remain or that the guidelines that we have informed you about are still up to code and up to date. Unfortunatly, the guidelines keep changing, so all this info is current and up to date to the best of our knowledge.)

-All drain covers must be stamped with the life expectancy of 5 years. If your drain cover does not have this on it, it is not compliant.

- A Vacuum Release System (STINGL) is needed on some pools, but not all depending on how it was designed, what pumps you are using, GPM, and so forth. A consultation will help us to determine what is needed for your specific pool.

- A few common rectangle size drain covers that are compliant (9×9 & 12×12) are now priced anywhere from $150 -$200 for each cover.

- A few common rounds size drain covers that are compliant (8 inch, 9inch, 10 inch) are now priced anywhere from $80 - $150 for each cover.

We do have many different styles and sizes in stock and are receiving more in all the time. We would encourage you to call us and schedule a time to come in and speak with us about your pool so we can get you the correct info & products that you will need to be compliant. If we do not have your size of drain instock, we can get them relatively fast. We will try to answer any of your question’s the best we can, or point you in the right direction where you can get the answers you need!
