Pool Requirements to be compliant with the Virginia Graeme Baker Bill
January 20, 2009 3:54 pm Hot Tubs/Spas, Pool Equipment, Pool Safety, Pool Tips, Swimming Pools, VGB ComplianceThere are several things that commercial pools will need to ensure that they have in place soon or they risk being shut down. Here are the regulations that are stated in the Virginia Graeme Baker Bill and the most important things that you need to look at when accessing your pools equipment!
* A minimum of two (2) functioning suction outlets per pump must be installed. Suction outlets in the same plane (i.e. floor or wall) must be installed with a minimum of three feet (1 meter) apart. You measure this from the nearest point to the nearest point.
*Dual suction fittings shall be placed in such locations and distances to avoid “dual blockages” by a user. Dual suction fittings shall also not be located on seating areas or on the backrest of a seating area.
*The maximum system flow rate shall not exceed the flow rate of any listed suction outlet cover installed per ASME/ANSI A112.19.8-2007.
There are many other factors to look at though. If you have any questions or are unsure if your public pool or spa is in compliance, please give us a call and we will be more than happy to show you what you will need.
